Terms of Service

Last updated: August 19, 2026

In short

Coffr is a personal spending tracker, not a bank or financial service — it doesn't move money or connect to your accounts. It's provided as-is to help you keep track of your own spending, and your data lives on your device, so you're responsible for keeping your device secure.

1. Acceptance of these terms

By downloading, installing, or using Coffr ("the app"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

2. What Coffr is

Coffr is a personal expense-tracking app. It lets you log spending manually, from natural-language quick entries, or (optionally, on Android) from parsing your own incoming bank/UPI SMS alerts on your device. Coffr:

Budgets, spending pace, insights, and any other figures shown in the app are calculated only from the expenses you log or approve. They're meant to help you understand your own habits, not to be relied on as the sole basis for a financial decision — double-check anything important against your actual bank or card statements.

3. Eligibility

You must meet the minimum age required to use apps under the terms of the app store you downloaded Coffr from (Google Play or the App Store), and be able to form a binding agreement in your jurisdiction, to use Coffr.

4. Your license to use the app

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Coffr on your own devices, for your own personal, non-commercial use, subject to these terms.

5. Your data and content

Anything you enter into Coffr — transactions, notes, categories, budgets, payment method labels — is yours. It's stored locally on your device, as described in our Privacy Policy. You're responsible for:

6. SMS parsing accuracy

If you enable SMS auto-tracking, Coffr attempts to detect and extract transaction details from bank/UPI alert messages using pattern matching on your device. This is a best-effort feature: message formats vary across banks and change over time, and Coffr may occasionally miss a message, misread an amount or merchant, or queue something that isn't actually a transaction. Always review parsed entries before relying on them, and correct or delete anything that's wrong.

7. Third-party services

Coffr uses a small number of third-party services to operate, each governed by its own terms:

8. No warranty

Coffr is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including (without limitation) any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We don't guarantee the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any calculation, budget, or insight it shows will be accurate or complete.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developer of Coffr won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising from or related to your use of (or inability to use) the app — including, without limitation, decisions made based on figures shown in the app, or data lost from uninstalling, erasing, or losing access to your device without a prior export.

10. Termination

You may stop using Coffr at any time by uninstalling it. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the app, or any feature of it, at any time.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Coffr after a change means you accept the updated terms. These Terms and your use of Coffr are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the use of the app shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts located in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.

12. Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent from inside the app: Settings → From the developer → Write to the developer.
